Characteristics
A really nice ferrata near fairy-tale castle Neuschwanstein. The ferrata is quite hard with sections of difficulty D and few very exposed sections. ATTENTION: at least until the end of May it is closed every year!
Arrival
Munich - continue on the motorway towards Lindau. Take the exit Landsberg am Lech and drive south along road number 17 around Schongau to Schwangau. Here turn left to the Tegelbergbahn cable car park.
Approach
Variant 1: (to warm up) From the parking via a steep paved road to the "Gelbe Wand Ferrata" practice via ferrata. Climb this to the end and turn left down the ski slope at the mountain saddle. The Fingersteig begins on the left in the forest and can easily be overlooked. (A small yellow sign tells you about the Fingersteig)
Variant 2: (Only for the conditioned): From the parking via a steep paved road to the "Gelbe Wand Ferrata" practice via ferrata. This trail branches off to the left in the first third (a ladder can be seen) This ladder is the start of the Tegelbergsteig. Climb this and turn left at the mountain saddle down the ski slope. The Fingersteig begins on the left in the forest and can easily be overlooked. (A small yellow sign tells you about the Fingersteig)
Variant 3: (the most boring way) From the car park past the "Gelbe Wand Ferrata" practice via ferrata in the direction of Tegelberg, first up a steep forest road next to the ski slope. In the area of the ski slope up to two huts, before you reach them (at approx. 1570 m) you turn right to the via ferrata (Sign).
Descent
After finishing the ferrata go back down the slope. Alternatively to the top station of the cable car and back to the parking lot.
