Characteristics

A secured route in the High Tatras that offers beautiful views of the surrounding peaks and exercise in high alpine rocky terrain. Securing is done with the help of chains, which are used more for holding on than for hooking into a via ferrata set. Therefore, a via ferrata set is not required here, but caution is advised. If it rains, it is not recommended to climb this secured route. The route can be walked in both directions and leads to several mountain lakes and mountain huts.

In 2021, a new full-fledged via ferrata was built, where a via ferrata set should be used, as we are used to.

Arrival

Via the highway from Žilina to Starý Smokovec.

Boarding

From Smokovec to Téry Hut. There is an option to take the cog railway to Hrebienok. From the Téry hut the path leads around a mountain lake towards Prične sedlo.

Exit

Via the Zbojnická hut into the Velká Studená dolina and back to Smokovec.

Interesting facts

The first via ferrata in the Tatra Mountains according to Alpine standards.
There are several mountain lakes along the way.
