Characteristics

We can divide the via ferrata in two sections.

In the first and only start we find a double entry, an accessible K2 and a K4 equipped with climbing holds. We choose the appropriate to our level to avoid abusing the lifeline. A little later a curious bridge awaits us that will force us to hold on to the life line if we are short, as we have a roof above with small chains to hold us. After the bridge we find the first difficult part of the via ferrata, a plummet that will test us. Then a vertical stretch will make us pull arms. Then we will pass a mini step of faith, via ferrata Regina de Peramola style that will lead us to a crossing with pegs to support our feet. Shortly after we can leave the ferrata via a well marked escape route.

If we decide to continue, the second section begins where we will make a short descent aided by some chains. We will go up again and we will find a second bridge, a 12-meter Nepalese bridge, which leads us to a new vertical section. We arrive at the second of the overhangs, here we can choose a new escape (K3) or take the short but very explosive overhang (K4). Then we descend with the help of chains and reach the cave, the great attraction of this via ferrata.

Please note that it is essential to wear a headlamp. We must take extreme precautions because the ground is slippery. We passed a small section and reached a wall equipped with pegs. We climb a vertical stretch and choose again between two variants to exit the via ferrata. A vertical chimney is the easy option (K3). For the difficult (K4) we will go through a narrow section through which we will have to remove the backpack. Then we will go up a chimney with natural grips and we will have to help ourselves with our feet to climb it. This is the most fun option and the perfect way to finish the route.

Arrival

We leave Montblanc, in the direction of Rojals by the TV-7042 road. On the 4. km, we find to our right the small village of Rojalons. There is space for about 5 cars. We will have to walk about 5 minutes along the road towards Rojals to a path that comes out on the left. It is the approach path.

If we want to leave the car closer, once we see the approach road, 20 meters ahead on the right hand side there is a small parking for 3 cars.

Approach

Follow the path for about 20 minutes until you reach a crossroads. We take the path to the right, from there we can see the wall that begins the via ferrata, a small sign on a tree indicates the direction to follow.

Exit

Once out of the via ferrata we follow a sign on the ground marked with gray spray. In little more than 10 minutes we will arrive at the beginning of the via ferrata. We repeat the same approach path to the car.

Interesting facts

The Venes de Rojalons is a special route, with a subway section that is unique of its kind in Spain. Although it is not very long and does not exceed a great height, it has several very original passages.
