Characteristics

The smart Wankspitze via ferrata was renovated in 2007 and extended by a short variant. The path connects the Stöttltörl with the Wankspitze via numerous elevations and gaps. The 600 m long climb mostly runs directly on the splintered ridge and offers an excellent view.

Arrival

On the A12 to Mötz and on the Mieminger Plateau towards Obsteig. Half a kilometer after the Mooswald settlement, turn right towards Gasthof Arzkasten and park in one of the paid parking lots.

Public transport: by train to Innsbruck and by bus (line 4176) to Obsteig Holzleiten.

Approach

Ascend from Gasthof Arzkasten on path 812 via the Lehnberghaus into "Hell". Turn right following the signpost and up into the Stöttltörl. Keep right in Törl and shortly to the entrance.

Exit

Descend from the summit via the normal path to the “Lacke” clearing. Keep right there and back to the Lehn berghaus, where you meet the ascent path.

Interesting facts

Stone chipping hazard due to the brittle rock.
