Characteristics

The 26er via ferrata is one of the most demanding via ferratas in the Carnic Alps. The access is demanding and the descent from the via ferrata is not for beginners. It requires mountaineering experience.

Arrival

Lienz - Kötschach-Mauthen - along road 110 to the border (Plöckenpass) - then on a stony path to Valentinalm.

Boarding

Follow the signs via the Obere Valentinalm to the Valentintörl (2 - 2.5 hours). You will now bypass or cross the rock in front of you and approach the via ferrata on the opposite wall, marked in orange/red. There are two possible approaches, take a look at the topo.

Exit

Either via the Via Brunner path or via the southern secured wall along path 145, called “Sentiero Spinotti”. Heading west takes you to Wolayer Pass (old customs hut) and from there back to Wolayer Lake. From there we go to Valentintörl (this takes about 3.5 hours).
