Characteristics

A short via ferrata on the west face of the Eselstein. It can either be used as an extension of the Ramsau via ferrata or you can climb up the anniversary path, then go down the Westwand via ferrata and finally reach the summit again via this via ferrata.

Arrival

Access

From the Guttenberghaus or from the Ramsau via ferrata to the Gruberscharte saddle. There is already a sign there pointing to this via ferrata.

Exit

A normal descent path leads down from the summit of the Eselstein without a via ferrata. You can also go down via ferrata B Westwand. There are signposts at the summit on both paths.

Interesting facts

Free-roaming sheep graze in the area around the Eselstein. You can stop (overnight) at the Gutenberghaus hut and drink a beer or eat something good. The hut owner makes homemade pine schnapps.
