Characteristics
It is an easy via ferrata that is also suitable for beginners. It begins with very easy sections A - B, followed by a boulder with a slightly more demanding passage C. However, this point can be bypassed to the left. This is followed by sections B - B/C, a transition through wooded terrain and again climbing sections B/C. After about 120 m you will practically reach a secured hiking trail, which is at the end of the Maroia via ferrata. The via ferrata continues with easier sections A - B up to the summit. The via ferrata has only a few artificial steps, is very well secured and in excellent condition (March 2023).
Arrival
See GPS parking in the town of Volturara Irpina in Piazza Roma near the Church of San Nicola.
Boarding
Go left around the church on Alessandro di Meo Street. After about 100 m you will see a sign pointing to the via ferrata. Turn left and after 10 m go up the stairs. After about 150 m you will reach an information board about the via ferrata. Here you can either follow the marked path no. 145 to the left and after about 150 m you will reach the access point. Or you can continue to the right, slightly downhill for about 40 m and use the access via ferrata Accesso (after completing it, go a few dozen meters to the left on the hiking trail). The beginning of the via ferrata is marked with a blue sign.
Exit
From the summit, turn left along the marked trail to the main information board and continue along the access trail back to the car park.
